First Impressions

The thought of moving away from home to a new city was far worse than the reality of it.

Months and months of preparing for the big day of the 20th September flew past like a flash and suddenly there I was, standing in my student bedroom surrounded by boxes and emotional family members.

I never imagined myself going forward to Higher Education but here I am, two lectures in and plenty of new friends later. They were my two biggest worries; committing to three more years of education and "will i, won't i make any friends?!". I really have brushed off any worries I first had and have put my whole self into enjoying every minute of this crazy, new experience. My biggest surprise so far has been how friendly everyone has been. I know the cliche "everyone is in the same boat" but it honestly has positively impacted my time at University so far. I have received friendly hello's and smiles around my halls of residence and the city campus all week and I really have met some great people.

When making the decision to study at Higher Education, I knew that I had to be sure that it was going to be the right course at the appropriate University. Previously studying Fashion Promotion at college for two years confirmed that this was the right industry for me to further my knowledge in, and after four open days, I was happy to put Nottingham Trent first on my list as I believed (and still believe) that it would benefit me in the short, and long term. Although it's very early into the course, I have so far enjoyed being a FCP student due to it's fast-paced, yet fun nature.

In my first week, I have been overwhelmed by how much there is to do and see in Nottingham. The task of a treasure hunt that we were given, has made me aware to the independent side of Nottingham- small cafes dotted in between vintage shops and vinyl stores. Although I haven't had too much time to explore as it really has been the most manic week of my life so far! I know that this first week is just a drop in the Ocean as to what I have to come in the future and I am beyond excited to live and study at NTU.
