This is my chosen final colour palette.
I was inspired by some photography I found on Pinterest of abandoned neon lights. I like the irony that the signs should be bright and bold and shining lights but it's now faded and not an amusement anymore.
Pastel colours usually are related to youth, and although these signs would have attracted the young in past, they're now an item of age, left to rot and discolour. Saying that, these pastel colours may not have been their original, as it is most likely they were bright, attractive colours that have faded in time.
Some terms that I came up with to describe my colour palette are:
Faded fun, neon graveyard, clouded amusement, tattered dreams, a tired Vegas
