This piece of fashion photography in I.D Fall 2013 is largely a mix between being literal, romanticised and mockery styling. It clearly advertises multiple garments, yet the models are telling a story through their body language, facial expressions and connection with each other. The location and styling however is leaning towards mocking an institute of some sort; this is partly due to the basic corrugated metal fencing surrounding the models. Another hint towards this theme is that the models are styled similarly, all in matching tartan check with plain white plimsolls and boxy masculine haircuts as you would be in a prison or alike.
This photograph works in my opinion as it's got a hint towards a theme whilst not being too garish or offensive. The casting is clever as the models are all very young adults that aren't seductive but are edgy. This could leave the viewer questioning their sex if it weren't for the skirts they are wearing. There's visual contrast in that the models are standing against a vertical striped fence, but by wearing a checked coat the viewer is instantly drawn to the centre of the photograph. Although this image is part of an editorial spread, alone it is an interesting photograph.
