Urban Outfitters meet NOVA

On Instagram this week I was scrolling down my homepage as I do almost all day every day, and I came across a photo posted by the official Urban Outfitters profile of a fragrance lab with the caption "What goes into making fragrance? Let's put it this way: It's a science! Check the UO Blog to read about our visit to @novapurfume Brooklyn Studio! #perfume #behindthescenes". Of course I immediately grabbed my laptop and punched in the blog address to find this interview which could reveal some interesting info on the subject that pretty much my whole current university module is surrounding!

At first I came to learn that NOVA is a custom scent perfumery business. The way this operates is that the owner Julia Zangrilli asks the customer to fill in a standard questionnaire about their preferences of smell then they work together from there to refine their personalised scent. This is a similar idea to 'I Hate Perfume' that was featured on BBC's Documentary.

Overall it's a great article to read to learn quickly about the day in the life of perfumer who works at home! It's interesting to see how fragrance affects so many people's lives and how it now is a desire to have an original signature scent. The fragrance world is changing and boy is it exciting!
