The inspiration for this theme came from watching Channel 4's documentary 'Fabulous Fashionistas'. I watched this back in 2013 when it first aired but the brilliance of it inspired me for this brief. The documentary looks at 6 women with the average age of 80 who all have an individual style and are looking to redefine the age of beauty. They're all determined and hard-working, most still in a job and they're all still making the most of life.

Age has always been an issue in Fashion- the face of beauty is never a 50 year old with grey hair but always a young woman. Whilst there's been small breakthroughs in the industry in the past decade, Celine's SS15 campaign pushes Joan Didian to the forefront of the fashion world- Celine are known for setting trends and this most recent campaign will turn heads as this original photo served as inspiration for other photos in the new campaign.

ID vice have just posted an article called 'what's fuelling the stylish senior revolution?' so therefore it's not just me that's noticing the new trend arising. They say 'So what's really driving the editorial obsession with the over-sixty set? Is it a genuine interest in wise, well-lived women with amiable wrinkles, exotic silk kimonos, and wardrobes spilling over with vintage Chanel, or just a strategic move by corporations in an effort to target new markets with money to spare? Likely an indistinguishable swirling of both.' (read more here) I really hope it's not a marketing plea, but instead a real extension of the fashion world. These women have probably love fashion their whole lives, it's not new to them, they've just been pushed out of a market they loved being a part of.
