NYC Day 3 08/03/15

Every time I write about New York it seems like more and more of a magical dream.

This is the second time I have written this post thanks to Wordpress deleting the first copy!

This day we had signed up to a talk at F.I.T about Perfumes as this was the only University in America that had a perfume lab on campus. We weren't meeting until 11.30 so we thought we would get up early and do some more exploring beforehand.

We had heard of a magazine store that was near Times Square called 'Around the World'. The window display was exactly as the inside was; stacked high full of paper. Every where that I looked I saw another magazine that I had never read or heard of before, and there were ones from all over the world. In the end I settled on the Kim Kardshian issue of PAPER magazine as it's quite legendary!

We then thought we would pop into Macy's and ended up getting a very odd breakfast of Froyo (Frozen yoghurt) but it was great to get some fresh fruit on top after all the burgers we had been eating that week! Macy's is such a strange department store, the ground floor beauty hall is enough to rival Harrods or similar, but the more stairs you climb the more it looks like British Home Stores.

We then met back at the hotel and made our way to F.I.T. for the perfume lecture. Read more about it here.

Earlier in the day the people who weren't signed up to go to F.I.T caught the ferry to Brooklyn so when we were finished we hopped in a yellow cab (with an extremely rude taxi driver) to the ferry port. For $4 we got a ride across the river and although it was too windy to go up on the boat deck I enjoyed the views of Manhattan becoming smaller behind us.

Lizzie had read that there was a carousel near the water's edge so we went around some back alley's to find it. There was a park there where stood a brightly coloured glasshouse. It looked beautiful against the grey distant buildings. We then jumped on the carousel for $2 and whirled around on horses overlooking the city. This was one of my favourite moments in New York but I can't pinpoint why.

We then took the Subway to Brooklyn Museum (with a slight accidental detour to Wall Street) to see the Killer Heels exhibition. Read more about it here.
