Top of The Rock

On the first night we were wandering down 5th Avenue and came across the Rockefeller Centre with a huge lit-up Christmas tree in front. There was also an Ice Rink which the public could use.

Before I came to New York I had planned to go up to the top of the Rockefeller as I had been to the top of the Empire State building before and I had heard that you got a spectacular view of the Empire State from the Rockefeller.

We paid our $29 to go up 70 floors to in a glass lift! It went really quickly and our ears popped as we sped up to the top of the Rock.

We were all silent as we stared out at Manhattan, soaking up the beautiful view! My favourite part was seeing Central Park- the scale of it surprises me every time and even though it was below freezing outside, we stood up there for around an hour. It's an experience that I would recommend to everyone as it finished off our first day in New York amazingly.

  1. […] We then headed to 5th Ave where we planned to take photos of the large department stores windows as we had read that they weren’t being dismantled until the 7th. We got distracted along the way- amazing shops and beautiful Christmas trees, and then we got to the Rockafella centre and the famous Christmas tree there was breathtaking, sparkling beautiful colours and towering above us it was honestly like nothing I’ve seen before. That encouraged us to want to see the view at the ‘top of the Rock’ so off we went! (read my post about it here) […]
